Home Economics with Mrs Moore

Home Economics with Mrs Moore

The Home Ec room has been a hive of activity as students learn essential life skills through hands-on experiences in cooking, nutrition, and household management.

This term, our Year 6 students have been eagerly diving into weekly Home Economics lessons with Mrs Moore as part of their transition to Secondary.

Year 11/12 Children, Family & Community
Students have put a lot of time and effort into making these fantastic dolls to send to The Uthando Project.
WHERE DO THE DOLLS GO?
Uthando dolls are given to five different agencies in KwaZulu Natal: TREE, dlalanathi, Lifeline, Family Literacy Project including Vukuzakhe Projects, and Sizabantwana (Pietermaritzburg primary schools).
The five agencies, all NGOs (Non-Government Organisations), all work in different ways with children and their emotional, mental and social development. Each organisation applies our Uthando dolls to suit their different needs, age range of the children, training resources, community impact, geographical position and network.
Year 8/9 students have been Shibori dying and pillow making

Year 10 students have been processing felt to make coasters for coffee mugs. During the felting process, the wool shrinks up to 40%.
