STUDENT LIFE

Students have access to an extensive range of modern facilities at Merredin College.

A large country school, we offer students a vibrant, inspiring and attractive environment in which to learn. Your child will have access to contemporary facilities, purpose-built to optimise student learning and which provide teachers with a quality teaching environment.

Students in the primary years enjoy learning in state-of-the-art classrooms equipped with smart boards, iPods, iPads, notebook and stand-alone computers and high speed wireless internet. Multi-purpose areas for activities such as art and cooking plus a superb music room complement these learning areas.

Students also have access to learn in specialist facilities seldom found in primary schools. These include science laboratories, and home economics, art and woodwork rooms.

The video conferencing centre is set up so students can be part of virtual classrooms across the State.

Our Performing Arts Centre (PAC) is a purpose-designed with a large open theatre space, with wall mirrors, stage curtains and removable stage options for performance. The facility also includes an extensive costume, make-up and prop store, simplified stage lighting rig and multiple sound arrays which allow students to learn the technical elements of stagecraft and performance.

The Wahlsten Library caters for all students and has an extensive collection of books, resources and computers.

Outside, beautifully landscaped grounds include shaded lawn areas for students. A large oval and three tennis courts provide your child with many options for being active. Students in the primary years have access to specialised climbing equipment designed to promote the development of gross motor skills. Students can also take advantage of the large gymnasium fitted out with fitness equipment.

The modern canteen managed by the P&C provides fresh, healthy meals daily. Two undercover areas attached to the canteen provide plenty of space for students of all ages to eat lunch and mingle with friends.
