Year 10 Harry Perkins and Body Works Excursion

Year 10 students visited the Harry Perkins Institute, where they learned how scientists diagnose a range of diseases. Working with mystery biological samples — one of which contained a simulated infection — students used a laboratory assay to identify the affected sample and complete a contact-tracing activity. This hands-on investigation gave them valuable insight into real-world diagnostic techniques and how outbreaks are tracked and managed.

In the afternoon, students explored the Body Worlds exhibition. Through viewing real human anatomical specimens preserved by plastination, they deepened their understanding of body systems, the effects of lifestyle choices on health, and the importance of maintaining their own wellbeing.
