Home Economics – Term 1, 2025

Home Economics – Term 1, 2025

It has been a super busy Term 1 in Home Economics classes with Mrs Squire. Students have been working hard on improving their cooking skills, producing some amazing, tasty dishes.

YEAR 12 FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Our Year 12 students have been busy learning about aeration, emulsification and preservation. They made fresh bread rolls, leek and potato soup and fresh pasta sauce over the last few weeks

YEAR 11/12 FOOD SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

Every Friday, the Year 11 & 12 students complete a challenge period where they are provided with a brief, a certain amount of ingredients and 1 hour to complete a sweet or savoury dish.

YEAR 11/12 CHILDREN, FAMILY & COMMUNITIES

Every Tuesday our CFC students complete practical tasks designed to encourage fine motor development in young children. They particularly enjoyed making edible marshmallow slime!

YEAR 9 COOKING: TASK 2

If colour is a key principle in food presentation, how can food be visually appealing if it is only one colour? Our Year 9 students were asked to design, plan and produce a savoury finger food for a party that used a variety of colours.

YEAR 8 COOKING

Our Year 8 students designed their own pizza recipe in week 5 for a practical assessment. They have been learning how to make a great pizza dough!

YEAR 7 COOKING

Our Year 7 students completed their first practical assignment this term. They had to design and make a breakfast burrito using a select number of ingredients. It was a wonderful task to do first thing on a Wednesday morning!

YEAR 7-12 – CUTTING SKILLS

All classes, 7-12 have been working on their cutting skills in Home Economics and Food, Science & Technology classes.
